Shearing Services,Booking,2012 Steven began shearing in April 2005. He is patient, thorough and is able to provide references. He treats every animal as if it were his own and genuinely cares about the animals as well as the needs and desires of their owners. He shears on the ground with ropes. In 2008, Steven was joined by his son, Christopher, who is an apprentice shearer. Chris has been shearing and is competent and careful. He can take over shearing if Steven needs a break allowing the shearing process to proceed smoothly. Additional fees: Please let us know if you need any of the following services when booking your appointment: $10.00 Fighting teeth with OB wire or Front teeth with Dremel $20.00 for both front and fighting teeth $5.00 toenails Shearing Day Tips: 1.)Get lots of rest the night before. 2.)Have plenty of cold drinking water available for everyone. 3.)Have enough people to gather fiber, bring animals to and from the shearing area and to assist in restraint as needed. 4.)Label fiber bags ahead of time. 2 or 3 large bags for each animal plus your fiber sample baggie. 5.)If you are giving injections during shearing, have them drawn up and labeled ahead of time. 6.)Have your animals as clean and dry as possible. 7.)Have a broom, vacuum or blower nearby to clean the shearing area between animals. 8.)Group animals from lightest to darkest. 9.)Discuss shearing newly pregnant or late term females with the shearer.
